Below I share with you why I’ve changed the name, what to expect from Season 3 when it launches on Saturday 6th September, my 3 biggest lessons since starting my podcast and where I am in my journey.
First off, why is it no longer called The Wild Show?
If you’ve been with me from the very beginning, you’ll know that it used to be called The Lilly Wild Show.
When I was really sick with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lilly Wild was my adventurous alter ego, she had no limits. Whereas I was limited by the severe lack of energy and confined to either my house or bed most days.
The Lilly Wild Show was an obvious name for my podcast when I started, as it symbolised that I was now living my life to the fullest, breaking the limits my body and mind once placed on and turning the impossible to the possible.
I decided to change the name for Season 2 to just The Wild Show. This is because I felt I had now fully shedded my alter ego. I was strong and living the life I wanted to live. I also kept being called Lilly Wild, which isn’t helpful when building a personal brand!
I kept Wild in my podcast’s name, not because of the connotations with adventure, nor because I was living a wild life. But because I wanted to recognise Frank Wild: The unforgotten polar explorer, who has spent more time in the polar regions than Scott and Shackleton.
All those years ago, Wild inspired and motivated me to fully recover when I was sick, but more than that, his mindset was resilient, strong and enabled him to weather many a storm. Shackleton described Wild being icy calm as they stepped off the boat having survived the perilous journey to Elephant Island in the Antarctic. The majority of their comrades were mad and delirious, but Shackleton said Wild looked as if he could be walking through Green Park.
Since launching my podcast at the end of 2016, I have llearneda lot about my self, grown as an individual and developed my expertise in performance coaching and branding.
With the help of renowned brand experts and content strategists Phil Pallen and Lauren Moore, I have attained a deep level of clarity on where I want to take my brand and how I can finesse it to become an effective brand that amplifies my accomplishments.
For these reasons, you will have noticed a change in my brand colours from the bold red to more earthy and grounded colours and a final change in my podcast’s name. It is now called The Adelaide Podcast.
I have chosen this name because, apart from being available on iTunes and the URL was a very good price, it reflects my podcast: A place where I interview exceptional people across an eclectic background, who I have met or would like to meet on my journey, and together we break down their approaches to success. We often focus on mindset, as that’s where my passion lies, but we might also look at habits, practices, strategies and much more. It reflects my curiosities.
You will be able to see this by looking back and listening to my interviews from the very beginning. Season 1 was all about how to live an adventurous life, Season 2 was a mixture of adventure, triathletes and entrepreneurs. And Season 3 is a mixture of CEOs from companies I love, including Jaybird Sport and Norrøna, my Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon journey of being part of the media team and extraordinary triathletes, along with other championship athletes, authors, coaches and sport psychologists. As always, I’ve tried to keep the gender balance at en even 50:50 split.
Season 3 has been really exciting to produce and I’ve even surprised myself by who I’ve managed to have on my podast. It’s a been a phenomenal journey, one I can’t wait to share with you.
What are my top 3 lessons from one and a half years of podcasting?
Lesson No.1 : Sound Quality
Oh my gosh have I had an issue with sound!
I’ve had to ditch several interviews due to sound in the background disrupting the audio, my Zoom H1 batteries bizarrely dying (it survived on one in Svalbard, but apparently New York was too much) and had to result to my phone, whose audio turned out to be very poor. I now carry A LOT of spare batteries. My MacBook Air no longer being powerful enough and other technicalities that caused my voice to sound like a chipmunk.
My editor and podcast extraordinaire, Rob Lawrence has said that he hasn’t known anyone to experience as many audio and podcast challenges! It’s not a trophy I am particularly proud of, but it has meant that I’m well prepared for the future!
Luckily, from my audio difficulties in New York, I knew the sound quality of my phone was not good when I landed a media position in the Iskar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon in Norway. I wanted to produce Instagram Stories, blogs and a podcast episode of a really high sound quality, so I invested in the Rode VideoMicro Compact on Camera Microphone that plugged directly into my Samsung Galaxy S8. The results. Amazing. I can’t wait to share this episode with you, but for now, you’ll have to wait!

Lesson No.2: Be Present and Listen
I remember my very first podcast interview with Sarah Williams like it was yesterday. I felt very prepared, having researched a ton about Sarah and compiled a list of very good questions laid out in the perfect order.
All of my episodes for Season 1 were conducted in this manner and it produced really good interviews. Sarah’s is one of my most downloaded episodes to date. However, I wanted to produce really great episodes.
I turned to Rob Lawrence, who advised me to trust in the process, be present in the conversation and really listen to my guests. Rob told me to ditch my list of questions and just know the outcome I desired for each of my interviews.
I still conducted my research for each guest, often had some questions written out and was more present in my interviews. Although in my head I was often still panicking as the interviewee came to the end of their answer about how I was going to link their answer to my next question and what would my next question be??
It was just so scary to ditch the questions and trust the process!
Season 2 was all about improving and finessing my interview technique and I believe as a result, my interviews are of a much higher quality. Squash Falconer even said it was one of the best interviews she’s ever had! This made me very happy.
Now Season 3 has come around and I am a much more confident interviewer. I still like to do as much research as I can about my guest, but I just have themes written out on a notepad that I want to cover. This has meant we have segwayed into other areas that were fascinating and it’s a much more natural conversation.
My aim with each interview is for you to feel like you’re having coffee with us at your favourite cafe while we chat.
Tim Ferriss, Rich Roll and Shawn Stevenson are the podcasters that I look up to and with Season 3 I hope I am edging closer to their incredible interview quality.
Lesson No.3: Think outside the microphone
What I love about my editors Rob Lawrence and Matt Cheney is that I am really able to push the boundaries of podcasting, which I think few people are.
- I’ve recorded 12 hours worth of sounds as I cross-country skied Svalbard for 9 days that I used to create my second most popular episode. Svalbard: My Icy Wilderness Adventure.
- I’ve recorded a mini-episode in an igloo in the heart of Switzerland, and again used sounds from snowshoeing across a mountain
- In Season 3, we’ve ripped the sounds from over 40 Instagram Stories together and vlogs to create the Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon Special Episode
- We’ve stitched together audio snippets from all of my female guests who are adventurers to create the ultimate women in adventure podcast episode for the She Xtreme Podcast Competition, weaving music into the background to create a fuller experience
- We’ve mashed up snippets of sounds to create the intro for my podcast that grabs your attention and gets you feeling excited
What’s next? I don’t know but I would like to experiment more with sound to create a deeper experience and really immerse you into the story.
What have I learnt since starting my podcast? Now that’s a big question.
I’ve learned a lot and no big lessons suddenly spring to my mind. However, I can distill my overall learnings down into 9 phrases, let me know if you agree with them by sending me a message via my pink bot.

A question I find far more exciting, is where will I be focusing on going as Season 3 is rolled out over the next few months.
Having recently attended a brand coaching program with Phil Pallen and Lauren Morre, I’m really excited to implement everything that they advised and taught us, from growth hacks to brand positioning and much more.

One of my dreams is to live in Norway. It’s been bubbling away in the background for a few years, but at the moment I just can’t get it out of my head. Do you know that feeling?
I’ve taken a step towards achieving this dream by becoming a permanent member of the Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon Media Team. Over the next few months, I will be doubly down on my efforts to live in Norway permanently. There’s something about Norway that is just magic to me, and has been since watching the Disney film Balto when I was little. I know it’s not based in Norway, but it’s about an epic dog sled journey and in my young mind, that meant Norway.
I’ve visited Norway 5 times in the last few years and each time, my urge to live there grows stronger. People find it strange when I tell them that the UK has never really felt like home to me. When I first landed in Norway, when I was about 20. It felt like home. My goal is to be living their or being closer to be living there by the end of Season 3.
The more branding and marketing projects I undertake, the more fascinated I become by branding and marketing in the sports and outdoor adventure industry and the more I want to learn and enhance my skills.
Over the coming months, I will be focusing my efforts on attaining more clients within these industries. I love working with small organisations on their brand and marketing, helping them to drive their profit, think outside the box and grow their brand awareness.
However, for the right challenge and right company, I would be enticed to come on board permanently within a business. The thought of having a role in which I can really sink my teeth into, hone my skills, work within a team and contribute to taking a brand to the next level sounds very exciting.
I am thoroughly enjoying growing my performance coaching business. This year I came on as the US Adaptive Climbing Team In-House Mindset Coach for their climbers going to the World Championships this September, who you will be hearing from later in this Season.
Another athlete I’m now coaching is Allan Hovda, one of Norway’s top extreme triathletes. Some of his accomplishments including winning Norseman three times and Swissman once. Allan is an incredible triathlete and I am honoured to be part of his team. You will be hearing from Allan in Season 3 too!
As Season 3 progresses I’m looking to coach more athletes and transfer my learnings with them about performance into the business world. I am also road mapping my journey to becoming a more skilled performance coach, so I can serve my clients with the best coaching possible.
